Mission

The Albany Riverfront Collaborative will engage our complete community in the creation of an equitable, sustainable, beautiful, forever-vision, and the initial, iterative steps toward this vision. The ARC will forge the robust civic partnerships necessary to nurture a river-connected and sustaining community with a vibrant and interdependent economy, culture, and landscape.

 OUR PRINCIPLES

We focus on our community. This is not a riverfront development project or a transportation project. It is a long-term, widely engaging, and deeply transformative community development plan.

We seek systemic change. We will not create a solution that fixes one problem only to exacerbate other issues.

We will use current conditions as valuable information. We will develop relationships to align the rail line and other constraints with our communal and reciprocal access to the Hudson River.

We will not be limited in our vision. We must vision a working, vibrant, and ecologically savvy riverfront rather than merely repairing existing damages.

We recognize the iterative nature of this planning. We have aspirational goals, with guiding principles, so that we can do the reachable work in a way that will lead to an excellent outcome over time.

We seek to go beyond inclusion to co-creation. We seek co-benefits in the planning, as this will strengthen support and result in resilient and sustaining improvements.

We see and celebrate connections. We know we are part of the whole river, the full city, and all occupants (human and non).
